Basketball Recap: Munster Piles Up the Points Against Highland

You can't lose the game if you win every quarter, and that was precisely Munster's strategy against Highland on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Munster Mustangs blew the Highland Trojans out of the water with a 68-31 final score. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matches by 23 points or more this season.

It was another big night for Nina Garner, who went 10 for 14 on her way to 22 points along with five assists and three steals. She has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lia Sotiropoulos, who posted 12 points.

Garner wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Munster was working as a unit and finished the game with 15 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Highland only posted four assists.

Despite the loss, Highland still got an impressive performance from Jordan Steele, who went 9 of 20 en route to 26 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. That was a full 83.9% of Highland's points, marking the 20th time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points.

Munster has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a massive bump to their 14-8 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.3 points per game. As for Highland, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 11-9 record.

When Munster and Highland next hit the court, they'll be up against teams who recently just can't seem to lose. Munster will try to stop Valparaiso's five-game winning streak when the meet at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Munster will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak alive. Similarly, Highland will take on Merrillville and their six-game winning streak at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
