Given the Ramblers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh in Illinois, while the Spartans are ranked 53rd in Illinois), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Maine South posted their closest win since December 29, 2023 on Tuesday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Glenbrook South 54-51. Winning may never get old, but the Hawks sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Maine South's win bumped their record up to 25-9. As for Loyola Academy, their victory was their 23rd straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 32-2.

Loyola Academy didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Maine South in their previous matchup back in February of 2024, but they still walked away with a 53-47 win.
