Preview: Kalama Chinooks vs. Toledo Indians
Kalama is 2-8 against Toledo since December of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Kalama Chinooks will head out on the road to square off against the Toledo Indians at 7:00 p.m. Hopefully Kalama focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Monday.
Last Monday, things could have been worse for Kalama, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 72-54 loss to Adna. While losing is never fun, Kalama can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 299th, while Adna is ranked 104th).
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Gavin McBride, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and three steals. Another player making a difference was Henry Sigfridson, who scored nine points along with five assists.
He wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Kalama were working as a unit and finished the game with 16 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Toledo came up short against Adna on Saturday and fell 58-45.
Kalama has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-12 record this season. Toledo's record is now 12-5.
Kalama couldn't quite finish off Toledo in their previous matchup back in December of 2023 and fell 52-50. Can Kalama avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
