Basketball Recap: Blue Valley Southwest Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Kylie Cross and Lily Unruh

It was fun while it lasted, but Blue Valley Southwest's undefeated season came to an end after four games on Saturday. They fell just short of the North Kansas City Hornets by a score of 40-37. The contest marked the Timberwolves' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Blue Valley Southwest's loss came despite strong showings from Lily Unruh and Kylie Cross. Unruh went 7 for 16 on her way to 14 points, while Cross posted six points in addition to five rebounds and four steals. Cross is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Karter Skillman, who had four points and ten rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Blue Valley Southwest fell to 4-1. As for North Kansas City, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season.

Blue Valley Southwest will head out to face off against St. James Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. St. James Academy is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 58.8 points per game this season. As for North Kansas City, they will welcome Liberty at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th.
