Softball Recap: Eight Straight Road Wins for South Glens Falls

South Glens Falls won the last time they faced Amsterdam and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Bulldogs blew past the Rams 17-1. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.

Marley Brogan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Gracelyn Smith was incredible, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in hits (two). Aubrey Hay also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

South Glens Falls kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in eight consecutive matches.

South Glens Falls' win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Amsterdam, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-13.

Looking ahead, South Glens Falls will take on Shenendehowa at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. As for Amsterdam, they will square off against Schuylerville at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
