Basketball Game Preview: First Baptist Academy Lions vs. Carrollwood Day Patriots

The First Baptist Academy Lions will take on the Carrollwood Day Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Carrollwood Day will be up against a hot First Baptist Academy squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. First Baptist Academy enjoyed a cozy 56-37 victory over Neumann on Friday. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 107th, while the Celtics are ranked 368th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Carrollwood Day and Sports Leadership & Management squared off in some playoff action on Wednesday, but Carrollwood Day had to settle for second. They fell to the Spartans 74-68. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Monday (58), the Patriots still had to take the loss.

First Baptist Academy will need to focus on slowing down Moses Allen, one of several Carrollwood Day players who made an impact when they last played. He posted 15 points in addition to eight assists and eight rebounds. That's the most assists Allen has posted since back in November of 2024. Logan Field was another key player, going 7 for 11 on his way to 17 points and seven boards.

Even though they lost, Carrollwood Day smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in seven consecutive contests.

First Baptist Academy's win bumped their record up to 25-2. As for Carrollwood Day, their loss dropped their record down to 15-12.
