Basketball Game Preview: Southside Mavericks vs. Northside Grizzlies

Southside is 0-10 against Northside since January of 2019 but things could change on Monday. It'll be Northside v. Southside when the Southside Mavericks and the Northside Grizzlies meet at 6:00 p.m.

Southside is headed into Monday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game back in January. They were dealt a 60-21 loss at the hands of Northside. The Mavericks were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 38-3.

Southside better keep an eye on Hazley Grotjohn. She was instrumental in Northside's win, going 5-for-12 on her way to 17 points and five steals. Grotjohn is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Isabella Kindrick, who posted five points in addition to five rebounds and four steals.

Northside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 12 consecutive matches.

Northside's victory was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 22-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.9 points over those games. As for Southside, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-3.
