Basketball Game Preview: Grulla Gators vs. La Feria Lions

Grulla hasn't had much luck against La Feria recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Grulla Gators will host the La Feria Lions at 6:30 p.m. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Grulla is headed into the contest having just posted their biggest victory since January 16, 2024 on Tuesday. They blew past Jubilee Brownsville 52-20.

Meanwhile, La Feria waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with five straight wins... but they left with six. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Tarpons 69-40. Given the Lions' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 504th, while the Tarpons are ranked 1269th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

La Feria is also on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.4 points per game. As for Grulla, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-12.
