Preview: Canterbury Crusaders vs. Northside Christian Mustangs

Two dominant players in Zy'nasia Alhuzaifi and Rilee Knight are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Canterbury Crusaders will be playing in front of their home fans against the Northside Christian Mustangs at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Canterbury is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games.

Last Wednesday, Canterbury didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Academy at the Lakes, but they still walked away with a 45-41 victory.

Canterbury's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but MacKenzie Tucker led the charge by scoring 19 points. Another player making a difference was Alhuzaifi, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 15 rebounds.

Meanwhile, Northside Christian put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 48-21 win over Lakeside Christian. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 34-7.

Northside Christian's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sofia Rodriguez, who scored 11 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Rodriguez has scored all season. Knight was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.

The win got Canterbury back to even at 6-6. As for Northside Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season.

Canterbury beat Northside Christian 41-33 in their previous meeting back in December of 2020. Will Canterbury repeat their success, or does Northside Christian have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
