Softball Recap: Make It Three in a Row for Cushing

Cushing had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.5 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They blew past the Mt. Enterprise Wildcats 17-6. This was payback for the Bearkats, who suffered a 4-3 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Madison Holland and Miley Jackson did most of the damage at the plate: Holland went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI, while Jackson went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those four hits gave Jackson a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Camryn Chandler, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Cushing kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 4.5 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 8.8.

Cushing's record now sits at 17-15. As for Mt. Enterprise, they dropped their record down to 6-8 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Cushing will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wildcats: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
