Baseball Recap: Nimitz Comes Up Short

Nimitz extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 6-13. They came up short against the Benjamin Davis Panthers, falling 14-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 15-5 on Tuesday.

Nimitz saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Raymundo Mosqueda, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one stolen base.

As for Benjamin Davis, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 7-14. That looming 14-1 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for them yet this season.

On Benjamin Davis' side, Adan Ramirez was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Benjamin Davis is 2-1 when Ramirez allows one or fewer earned runs, but 5-13 otherwise. Ramirez was also solid in the batter's box, getting three hits from his three at bats.

In other batting news, Benjamin Davis got a massive performance out of Darwin Virtudazo, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles. Those three hits gave Virtudazo a new career-high. Rashon Enard was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one double.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Nimitz is set to square off against their familiar foe Eisenhower at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Benjamin Davis will challenge rival Aldine at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
