Preview: Hernando Leopards vs. Hudson Cobras
The Hernando Leopards's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Hudson Cobras at 7:30 p.m. on January 26th.
After soaring to a 38-point win in their last game, Hernando came back down to earth on Tuesday. They fell just short of Weeki Wachee by a score of 56-54. Hernando has not had much luck with Weeki Wachee recently, as the team's come up short the last five times they've met.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Kayla Holloman, who scored 18 points. Another player making a difference was Aislin Ruppe, who scored 16 points.
Even though Hudson has not done well against Pasco recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hudson blew past Pasco 56-18 on the road. For those curious, yes, that was the biggest win Hudson has managed all season.
Hudson found their leader in underclassman Veronica Uhrig, who dropped a double-double on 20 points and ten rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Uhrig has scored all season. Grace Rutherford was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Hernando has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Hudson, their win bumped their record up to 6-10.
Everything came up roses for Hernando against Hudson in their previous meeting back in November of 2023 as the team secured a 75-33 victory. Does Hernando have another victory up their sleeve, or will Hudson turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
