Baseball Recap: Clinton Prairie Extends Home Winning Streak to Eight

After losing to Western Boone the last time they met, Clinton Prairie decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Gophers put the hurt on the Stars with a sharp 12-1 win on Monday. The Gophers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by ten runs or more this season.

Clinton Prairie's victory was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Kye Jacobs, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave Jacobs a new career-high in doubles (two). Another was Malachi Corbin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Clinton Prairie was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .417. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive contests.

The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.4 runs over those games. As for Western Boone, they moved to 7-6 with that loss, which also ended their four-game winning streak.
