Baseball Game Preview: Elk Grove Thundering Herd vs. Sheldon Huskies

For the second straight game, Elk Grove will face off against Sheldon. The Thundering Herd will take on the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Elk Grove has seven straight victories, Sheldon has 15 straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Elk Grove's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. They blew past Sheldon 10-0. That's two games straight that the Thundering Herd have won by exactly ten runs.

Ryan Lindner looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Chase Groves was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Elk Grove hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in nine consecutive matches.

Elk Grove's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-9. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.5 runs over those games. As for Sheldon, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-18.
