Football Recap: Lytle Comes Up Short

Lytle lost against Crystal City back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Pirates fell just short of the Javelinas by a score of 32-29. The Pirates were up 22-0 in the second quarter but couldn't hold on to the lead.

Christopher Mena had an outrageously good game for Crystal City as he threw for 267 yards and three TDs, and also rushed for 69 yards and one touchdown. Those 69 rushing yards gave Mena a new career-high.

Lytle now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Crystal City, their victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 8-1.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Lytle will square off against rival Jourdanton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Crystal City is set to take on their familiar foe Cole at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
