Basketball Recap: Holmes Takes a Loss

Holmes had lost six straight on the road, but on Saturday they dropped down to 14-17 to make it seven. They took a blow against the Sotomayor WILDCATS, falling 90-63. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the WILDCATS this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 75-59 back in December of 2025.

Holmes' loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Junior Sanchez, who dropped a double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and Jaylen Conrad, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and ten boards. The matchup was Conrad's fourth in a row with at least 15 points. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Hernandez, who shot 45% from the field to rack up 12 points.

As for Sotomayor, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 14-14. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 85.5 points over those games.

Olubunmi Odewole produced another solid performance going 6-for-8 from beyond the arc en route to 32 points in addition to eight rebounds and five assists. He is also on a roll when it comes to shooting accuracy, as he's posted one of at least 50% in the last nine games he's played. Gabriel Hernandez was another key player, shooting 67% from the field on his way to 20 points.

Looking ahead, Holmes will square off against Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Sotomayor, they will challenge Stevens at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The WILDCATS will be up against the Falcons' rather soft defense (which has allowed 54.88 points per game), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance.
