Football Recap: St. Joseph Academy Bloodhounds vs. Regents Knights
St. Joseph Academy lost against Regents back in September of 2024, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Bloodhounds had to suffer through a 59-15 loss at the hands of the Knights. While losing is never fun, the Bloodhounds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 615th, while the Knights are ranked 73rd).
St. Joseph Academy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gavin Cisneros, who threw for 242 yards and a pair of TDs, and also rushed for 93 yards. A healthy portion of Cisneros' aerial production (126 yards to be exact) went to Andre Cristiano.
It was another big night for Jack Devine, who threw for 211 yards and six touchdowns on only 19 passes, and also rushed for 74 yards and one score on only five carries for Regents. That's the most passing touchdowns Devine has posted since back in August of 2024. Regents' leading receiver Blake Smith was Devine's top target yet again, picking up 137 receiving yards and three TDs.
St. Joseph Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-3. As for Regents, the win keeps them at an undefeated 4-0.
Coming up, St. Joseph Academy will head out to square off against Economedes at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bloodhounds will need to watch out since the Jaguars have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Regents, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Brook Hill at 7:00 p.m. This will be the Knights' first chance to prove their worth in the conference.
