Recap: Cheshire Academy Cats vs. Williston Northampton Wildcats
The Cheshire Academy Cats put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their undefeated season alive. They came out on top against Williston Northampton by a score of 41-31. Given Cheshire Academy's advantage in MaxPreps's football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked second in Connecticut, while Williston Northampton is ranked 38th in Massachusetts), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Dante Reno went supernova for Cheshire Academy, throwing for 243 yards and three touchdowns, while also punching in two touchdowns on the ground. Cheshire Academy also got a significant boost from Shawn Mills, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 115 yards.
Cheshire Academy's win was their fourth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which bumped their overall record up to 5-0. It's not like the team was facing easy opposition over that stretch either, as it included 4-1 Phillips Exeter Academy and 4-2 Deerfield Academy (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 61.7% over those games). As for Williston Northampton, their loss dropped their record down to 4-2.
Cheshire Academy will be playing in front of their home fans against Salisbury School at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Williston Northampton, they will head out on the road to face off against Suffield Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday.
