Baseball Recap: Righetti Takes a Loss

The home team had won the previous two meetings between Righetti and Lompoc, and Lompoc kept the tradition alive. The Warriors fell 6-1 to the Braves on Friday. The Warriors were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Braves earlier this season, when they won 4-0.

Righetti saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Blake Thayer, who went 2-for-4 with one double and one RBI.

Righetti has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 14-10 record this season. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.8 runs on average over those games. As for Lompoc, the victory snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 12-10 record.

Looking ahead, Righetti will challenge Nipomo at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Warriors' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Titans have averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season. As for Lompoc, they will face off against Arroyo Grande at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
