Volleyball Recap: Governor's School for Science & Math's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Tuesday

It was a good run, but Governor's School for Science & Math unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-match winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 3-1 to the Lewisville Lions. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lions this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on September 2nd.

While Lewisville got the win, Governor's School for Science & Math sure made them earn it: two sets took extra rallies. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 21-25, 27-25, 26-24.

Governor's School for Science & Math's offense was headlined by Leilani Birch and Elon Mack, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Alaina King and her ten assists. Hannah Swinton controlled things from the service line, finishing with nine aces.

Governor's School for Science & Math's loss dropped their record down to 10-3. As for Lewisville, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.

We've got plenty of inter-region action coming up soon. Governor's School for Science & Math is set to square off against their familiar foe Lamar at 6:00 p.m. on the 9th. Meanwhile, Lewisville will take on rival McBee at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday.
