Soccer Game Preview: Steinbrenner vs. Alonso

Steinbrenner is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Alonso is on a six-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Steinbrenner Warriors will welcome the Alonso Ravens at 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Steinbrenner's defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victor by a 3-0 margin over River Ridge. The Warriors' defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three contests.

Brenna Ruggeri and Abigail Ferguson scored all three of Steinbrenner's goals, bringing their combined season tally to 28 goals.

Meanwhile, everything went Alonso's way against Freedom on Tuesday as Alonso made off with a 6-0 victory. Given the Ravens' advantage in MaxPreps' Florida soccer rankings (they are ranked 49th, while the Patriots are ranked 340th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Steinbrenner's win bumped their record up to 10-0-1. As for Alonso, their victory bumped their record up to 11-1-1.

Steinbrenner came out on top in a nail-biter against Alonso in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, sneaking past 1-0. Will Steinbrenner repeat their success, or does Alonso have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
