Softball Recap: Eastern Montgomery Falls to Giles in First Game of Season

Eastern Montgomery unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They came up short against the Giles Spartans on Monday, falling 8-2. Mustangs fans who chose to attend the game sure picked the wrong one: it was the first time the team's lost against the Spartans since on Monday.

Macie Akers was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two triples and two runs. That's the most triples she has posted since back in April of 2024.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastern Montgomery is headed away from home for the first time to take on Grayson County at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Giles, they will challenge Auburn at 5:00 p.m. on March 25th.
