Basketball Recap: Grace Christian Find Success

New Covenant came into Friday's contest looking for another win against Grace Christian, but Aubrey Greenmun wouldn't allow it. The Grace Christian Warriors skirted past the New Covenant Gryphons 39-37 thanks in part to Greenmun, who went 9 of 12 on her way to 20 points and six rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Grace Christian's points.

The team also got some help courtesy of Kaitlyn Harper, who posted nine points in addition to seven assists and five boards. She has been hot recently, having also posted three or more steals the last four times she's played.

Despite the loss, New Covenant still got an impressive performance from Melia Leitner, who almost dropped a double-double on ten points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave Leitner a new career-high in points. Another player making a difference was Alicia Kenny, who had six points and nine rebounds.

Grace Christian's record now sits at 6-2. As for New Covenant, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-4.

Grace Christian will get to enjoy the win for a while: their next game is against Roanoke Catholic at 7:30 p.m. on January 9, 2025. After both having extra time off, New Covenant and North Cross will shake off the cobwebs and square off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. New Covenant is facing North Cross at the right time seeing as North Cross is stuck on a six-game losing streak.
