Football Recap: Riverdale Academy Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Riverdale Academy unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They took a blow against Claiborne Academy on Friday, falling 50-6. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Riverdale Academy of the 50-16 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in September of 2024.

Claiborne Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kyler Monk, who rushed for 62 yards and one TD, and also threw for 99 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Monk showed off some serious burst, turning on the afterburners on one carry for 62 yards. Nate Smith also helped with two scores in total.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Riverdale Academy is packing up and heading out for their first away game of the season: they will challenge Prairie View Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Claiborne Academy, they will head out to take on Tallulah Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
