Volleyball Recap: St. Petersburg Catholic Comes Up Short

St. Petersburg Catholic and Clearwater Central Catholic squared off in some playoff action on Tuesday, but St. Petersburg Catholic had to settle for second. They came up short against the Marauders, falling 3-0. The Barons haven't had much luck with the Marauders recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

The match finished with set scores of 25-9, 25-18, 25-15.

Clearwater Central Catholic found their leader in freshman Adriana Shorter, who had 16 assists and 13 digs. Those 13 digs set a new season-high mark for Shorter. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Garrett, who had six digs and three aces.

St. Petersburg Catholic's loss dropped their record down to 7-18. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 14-12 record this season.

St. Petersburg Catholic does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Clearwater Central Catholic, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 3-1 defeat against Indian Rocks Christian on the 15th.
