Basketball Recap: Woodrow Wilson Starts Season with Victory Against Downey + How To Watch

Woodrow Wilson had to kick off their season on the road on Monday, but they showed no ill effects. In a tight game that could have gone either way, they made off with a 61-60 win over the Downey Vikings. For the Bruins, this counts as revenge for the 60-50 victory the Vikings walked away with the last time they faced one another back in December of 2016.

Downey's loss came despite strong showings from Matthew Topete and Lucas Morales. Topete shot 43% from the field to rack up 21 points along with seven boards and five steals, while Morales went 6-for-9 en route to 19 points. Another player making a difference was Christopher Medina, who went 5-for-10 on his way to 10 points and eight rebounds.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Woodrow Wilson will host Palmdale at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Downey, they will welcome Artesia at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
