Olivia Yeary was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Lylah DeArmond was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs and two doubles.
Avon hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Center Grove faced Franklin Central in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Wednesday. The Trojans never let the Flashes get on the board and left with a 3-0 win.
Kara Biever looked comfortable as she pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in eight consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Sydney Herrmann, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles and two RBI.
Avon's record is now 11-17. As for Center Grove, their record now sits at 23-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Avon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .343. However, it's not like Center Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .397. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
