After flying high against St. John XXIII on Friday, Needville came back down to earth. The Bluejays took a 2-0 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Friendswood Mustangs on Saturday. The Bluejays' loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Sophia Zeitz paced Needville's offense, picking up six kills. Zeitz got some help from Avery Polak and her seven assists. Polak also made an impact serving: she shared the team lead in aces with Carsyn Hill, racking up two apiece.

Friendswood's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ashley Adams led the charge by getting ten digs and two aces. That's the most aces Adams has posted over her last nine contests. Haley Patton was another key player, getting 11 digs and three assists.

Needville's defeat dropped their record down to 14-3. As for Friendswood, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season.

Needville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 2-0 win against Clear Lake on the 23rd. As for Friendswood, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 victory against Pearland on the 23rd.
