Basketball Recap: St. Patrick's Takes a Loss

St. Patrick was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They lost 42-22 to the Hershey Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, with their most recent defeat being a 55-32 loss back in January.

When it comes to explaining why St. Patrick's lost, don't look at Sophia Baca. Despite the final result, she posted six points along with 13 rebounds and three steals. Baca is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in each of the last three games she's played.

Even though they lost, St. Patrick's smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since the start of last season.

Leading Hershey to victory were Aubry Hall and Payton Jones. Hall went 5-for-11 to rack up 12 points and six steals, while Jones put up 14 points in addition to six boards and five steals. Jones is becoming a predictor of Hershey's success: when she posts at least five steals the team is undefeated (and 7-9 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Lexi Pinkerton, who scored three points along with six rebounds and four steals.

St. Patrick's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for Hershey, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 12-9.

As of now, neither St. Patrick's nor Hershey have any future games scheduled.
