Softball Preview: Foran Lions vs. Lyman Hall Trojans

The Foran Lions will head out on the road to face off against the Lyman Hall Trojans at 3:45 p.m. on Friday. Foran is no doubt hoping to put an end to a seven-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Foran is hoping to deliver their fans another blowout on Friday, just like they did against Hand (and have done all season long). Everything went Foran's way against Hand on Wednesday as Foran made off with an 8-2 win.

Abigail Corris spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't pitched less than five innings in eight consecutive pitching appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Nyla Jaser, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Maddie Deldin, who scored two runs while going 1-for-3.

Lyman Hall never got on the board in their matchup last Monday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Hamden last Friday. They were the clear victor by a 24-5 margin over the Green Dragons. Lyman Hall's hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Foran now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Lyman Hall, the victory also got them back to even at 2-2.

Foran was able to grind out a solid win over Lyman Hall when the teams last played back in May of 2023, winning 11-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Foran since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
