Basketball Game Preview: Pittsburg Pirates vs. College Park Falcons

The Pittsburg Pirates will take on the College Park Falcons at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both will really light up the scoreboard.

Pittsburg took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Saturday. They came out on top against Las Lomas by a score of 73-65.

Pittsburg's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jermaine Earnest led the charge by going 8 of 14 on his way to 16 points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals gave Earnest a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Terrance Wiley, who went 7 for 15 en route to 18 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Meanwhile, College Park waltzed into their match on Thursday with seven straight wins... but they left with eight. They skirted past the Bulldogs 55-53.

College Park's win came from a few key players Pittsburg will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Miles Cooper, who posted 16 points. Another player making a difference was Steven Barnett, who scored 17 points.

College Park has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Pittsburg, their victory bumped their record up to 12-9.

Pittsburg didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against College Park in their previous matchup back in November of 2023, but they still walked away with an 84-80 win. Will Pittsburg repeat their success, or does College Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
