Softball Recap: Bruce Comes Up Short

Bruce had lost three straight at home, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-6 to make it four. They lost 22-2 to the Turtle Lake/Clayton Titans. Having soared to a lofty 12 runs in the game before, the Red Raiders couldn't push the score so high this time.

As for Turtle Lake/Clayton, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 11-0. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average this season.

For Turtle Lake/Clayton's part, Charli Molls made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Molls has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Olivia Korish was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Lauren Bygd also deserves some recognition as she got her first hits of the season.

Looking ahead, Bruce will head out on the road to take on Cornell/Lake Holcombe at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Turtle Lake/Clayton, they will face off against Shell Lake at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
