Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Platte County). They claimed a resounding 70-16 victory over the Ruskin Golden Eagles. Given the Pirates' advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 78th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 346th), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Platte County now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Ruskin, they are on a 22-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-9.

Platte County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on North Kansas City at 7:00 p.m. on January 6, 2025. North Kansas City has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests. Ruskin also won't see the court for a while: their next match is against Grain Valley at 7:00 p.m. on January 20, 2025.
