Softball Preview: Southridge Raiders vs. Evansville Central Bears
The Southridge Raiders are taking a road trip to face off against the Evansville Central Bears at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
On Friday, Southridge came up short against Heritage Hills and fell 11-7.
Meanwhile, Evansville Central made easy work of Evansville Harrison on Friday and carried off a 12-5 win. The result was nothing new for the Bears, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Katelyn Peterson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those six strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
At the plate, Evansville Central got a massive performance out of Aubrie Durham, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most stolen bases Durham has posted since back in May of 2024. Danika Dix was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four runs and two doubles.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Evansville Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 4-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Evansville Central's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5. As for Southridge, they now have a losing record of 5-6.
Southridge couldn't quite finish off Evansville Central in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 and fell 2-0. Can the Raiders avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
