Softball Recap: Powers Catholic Comes Up Short

Powers Catholic had lost 13 straight on the road dating back to last season, but on Saturday they dropped down to 1-1 to make it 14. They lost 8-0 to the Goodrich Martians. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Chargers' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.

Goodrich's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-2. The victory continues a trend for them in their matchups with Powers Catholic: they've now won five in a row.

For Goodrich's part, not much got past Samantha Hiller, who gave up just a hit and racked up 18 Ks to keep Powers Catholic off the board.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Anna Light, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (two). Ayannah Jackson was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Looking ahead, Powers Catholic will head out to square off against Carman-Ainsworth at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Goodrich, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Brandon at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
