Basketball Preview: Rutland Hurricanes vs. Kendrick Cherokees
The Rutland Hurricanes will head out on the road to face off against the Kendrick Cherokees at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Rutland has insisted on making their lastthree contests complete nail-biters, turning in a record of 2-1 during that stretch of close contests.
Last Friday, Rutland had just enough and edged the Gryphons out 47-45.
Rutland can attribute much of their success to Xavier Taylor, who scored 19 points. Taylor is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 16 or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Elijah Brooks, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Kendrick ended up a good deal behind the Raiders on Tuesday and lost 56-42.
Rutland is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 14-9 record this season. As for Kendrick, their loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-17.
Rutland beat the Cherokees 52-42 in their previous meeting back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rutland since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
