The Union Area Scotties will square off against the Carmichaels Mighty Mikes at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Union Area is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup  on Friday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Jefferson-Morgan  a   15-0 shutout. The Scotties have beaten the Rockets the last three times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rockets has come to flipping the script.

 Mia Preuhs made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound,   striking out six batters over  three innings while giving up   no  earned runs off   one  hit. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in 14 consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate,  firing off two  home runs, five  RBI,  and three  runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most  home runs  she has posted since back in March.
 In other batting news,  Irelyn Fisher was  incredible,  going a perfect 2-for-2 with one  home run, four  RBI,  and two  runs. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in April.  Olivia Benedict was another key player,  going 2-for-3 with two  runs, two  doubles,  and one  stolen base.
Meanwhile, Carmichaels put another one in the bag  on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They blew past West Greene 10-0. Carmichaels' victory was all the more impressive since the Pioneers were averaging only 3.26 runs allowed on the season.
Carmichaels let  Carys McConnell and  Ali Jacobs run wild. McConnell  went a perfect 3-for-3 with two  stolen bases, two  runs,  and one  double, while  Jacobs  went a perfect 2-for-2 with four  RBI, one  run,  and one  double. Another player making a difference was  Ashton Batis, who  went 1-for-2 with two  runs and one  double.
 Carmichaels was getting hits left and right  and  finished the game having  posted a batting average of .462. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Greene only posted a  batting average of  .143.
 Carmichaels' win bumped their record up to 16-0. As for Union Area, their victory bumped their record up to 18-2.
Thursday's   game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Union Area hasn't had any issues making contact this season,  having earned a batting average of .406. However, it's not like Carmichaels struggles in that department as   they've  averaged .402. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
 Union Area came out on top in a nail-biter against Carmichaels when the teams last played  back in May of 2023, sneaking past  10-8. Do  the Scotties have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mighty Mikes turn the tables on them?  We'll have the answer soon enough.
