Baseball Recap: Pinole Valley's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

Pinole Valley dropped their record down to 9-10-1 on Saturday, which also ended the team's four-game streak of wins. They fell just short of the Novato Hornets by a score of 5-3. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Spartans have suffered since March 7th.

Jeremiah Tenorio made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

As for Novato, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 11-8 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games.

On Novato's side, Gio Castaing made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Castaing was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dominic Scafani, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pinole Valley will face off against De Anza at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Novato, they will challenge Marin Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
