The Walker Valley Mustangs will challenge the East Hamilton Hurricanes at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
East Hamilton will be up against a hot Walker Valley squad: the team just extended their winning streak to three. The Mustangs never let Signal Mountain get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Wednesday.
Olivia Presswood was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in five consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Walker Valley let Vanessa Byers and Amy Benson run wild. Byers went 1-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Benson scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3. Another player making a difference was Anzleigh Battle, who scored three runs while going 1-for-1.
Walker Valley hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in 17 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, East Hamilton entered their tilt with Howard Tech on Tuesday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victors by a 10-0 margin over the Hustlin' Tigers.
Bailey Poschke was incredible, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 3-for-3. Those home runs marked the first that she launched this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Georgiana Kapo, who went 1-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
East Hamilton's victory bumped their record up to 10-6. As for Walker Valley, their win bumped their record up to 23-7.
Walker Valley skirted past East Hamilton 2-1 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Will the Mustangs repeat their success, or do the Hurricanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
