The Archbishop Hannan Hawks will take on the Ascension Catholic Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Archbishop Hannan comes in on six and Ascension Catholic on three.
On Thursday, Archbishop Hannan needed a bit of extra time to put away Chalmette. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Owls, sneaking past 8-7. That's two games straight that the Hawks have won by just one run.
Meanwhile, while Ascension Catholic put up plenty of runs on Monday, the same can't be said for North Iberville. Ascension Catholic put the hurt on North Iberville with a sharp 15-0 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won 13 games by eight runs or more so far this season.
Ava Gauthe made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.
In other batting news, Emma Delatte and Sydney Viallon did most of the damage at the plate: Delatte went a perfect 3-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run, while Viallon scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. That's the most RBI Delatte has posted since back in March. Aubrey Delatte was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Ascension Catholic always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .727. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Archbishop Hannan pushed their record up to 12-8 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 2.75 runs across that stretch. As for Ascension Catholic, their win bumped their record up to 18-5.
Everything went Archbishop Hannan's way against Ascension Catholic in their previous matchup back in March of 2018, as Archbishop Hannan made off with a 12-2 victory.
