Softball Recap: Hesston Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Hesston had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Nickerson Panthers a 13-0 shutout. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 16-1 on Tuesday.

Landree Martin was incredible, getting on base in all three of her plate appearances with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025. Briley Yoder was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two stolen bases and two runs.

Hesston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .607. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .607 or higher in three consecutive contests.

Hesston's win bumped their record up to 10-5. As for Nickerson, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-12.

Coming up, Hesston will face off against Abilene at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Nickerson, they will square off against Haven at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Panthers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Wildcats have averaged an impressive 10.5 runs per game this season.
