Baseball Recap: Mcguffey Sets Scoring Season-High Against Keystone Oaks

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask McGuffey). They walked away with an 11-6 victory over the Keystone Oaks Golden Eagles on Tuesday. The game was the first time the Highlanders have beaten the Golden Eagles on their field since April 12, 2017.

McGuffey got a massive performance out of Sam Stout, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Stout also hit a double, marking his first of the season. Logan Carlisle was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3.

McGuffey was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .375. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2024.

The win got McGuffey back to even at 3-3-1. As for Keystone Oaks, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-4 record this season.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. McGuffey will welcome Fort Cherry at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Keystone Oaks, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against South Allegheny at 4:00 p.m. The Gladiators' pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Golden Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
