Basketball Recap: Oak Glen Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Mikalyn Balch and Ella Stewart

Oak Glen lost against Indian Creek back in February of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Oak Glen Golden Bears took a hard 65-46 fall against the Indian Creek Redskins.

Despite the loss, Oak Glen had strong showings from Ella Stewart, who posted nine points, and Mikalyn Balch, who put up ten points. Stewart continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Keira Vick was another key player, putting up six points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Indian Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mckenna Scott, who went 7 of 13 en route to 18 points along with eight assists and seven steals. That's the most assists Scott has posted since back in February of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Sadler, who went 5 for 7 to rack up 13 points in addition to eight boards and six assists.

Oak Glen's defeat dropped their record down to 11-7. As for Indian Creek, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 13-8.

Oak Glen has already played their next contest, a 63-28 victory against Brooke on the 10th. As for Indian Creek, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 45-40 loss against John Marshall on the 10th.
