Softball Recap: South View Tigers vs. Wakefield Wolverines

South View and Wakefield squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but South View had to settle for second. They lost 10-3 to the Wakefield Wolverines.

Jordynn Parnell was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over six innings while giving up three earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. Parnell has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 16 consecutive pitching appearances. Parnell was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with a home run.

Parnell wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Kaylie Cook, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.

On Wakefield's side, Dayna Bland spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks.

South View's loss ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-5. As for Wakefield, their victory was their 16th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-2.
