Football Recap: Southern Nash's Rushing Dominance Continues + How To Watch

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Southern Nash walked away with it. They took down the Southeast Alamance Stallions 58-39 on Friday. The Firebirds pushed the score to 58-23 by the end of the third, a deficit the Stallions cut but never quite recovered from.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Camron Lyons and Jaden Hartsfield. Lyons gained 150 total yards and three touchdowns while Hartsfield rushed for 123 yards and a pair of scores on only 11 carries. Lyons also rushed for 107 rushing yards, which is notable because Southern Nash is undefeated when he posts at least 80 rushing yards, but 2-4 otherwise. Isaiah Battle was another key player, throwing for 108 yards and two touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Southern Nash was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 293 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 194 rushing yards in 14 consecutive matchups dating back to last season.

Southern Nash's defensive line made their presence known, laying out Tyler Jackson six times. The heavy lifting was done by Zion Odom and Taj Martin, who racked up five sacks between them.

Despite the defeat, Southeast Alamance saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Jackson threw for 382 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.2 yards per attempt. Those 382 passing yards set a new season-high mark for Jackson. Southeast Alamance's leading receiver Logan Luang-Sy was Jackson's top target yet again, picking up 132 receiving yards and one score.

The win snapped Southern Nash's losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-4 record. As for Southeast Alamance, with the loss, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 8-4.
