Softball Game Preview: Shadow Mountain Matadors vs. Moon Valley Rockets

For the second straight game, Shadow Mountain will face off against Moon Valley. The Matadors will head out on the road to face off against the Rockets at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Shadow Mountain's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last five matchups.

Shadow Mountain took a loss when they played away from home on Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Moon Valley with a sharp 19-9 victory. The win continues a trend for the Matadors in their matchups with the Rockets: they've now won six in a row.

Casey Evans made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over 5.2 innings while giving up three earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts she has posted since back in March. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.

In other batting news, Shadow Mountain got a big performance out of Kennedy Williamson, who scored two runs while going 3-for-3. That's the most runs Williamson has posted since back in February. Ava Maroulis was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-3.

Shadow Mountain's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-6. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.7 runs over those games. As for Moon Valley, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-14.
