Softball Recap: Alleghany Comes Up Short

Alleghany was the 12-2 winner over Riverheads when they last played one another back in April, but their luck changed this time around. The Mountaineers took a 7-4 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Gladiators on Tuesday.

Alleghany's loss dropped their record down to 13-5. As for Riverheads, their win bumped their record up to 8-10.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Alleghany will host Rockbridge County at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Mountaineers 3, the Wildcats 3.8) so any runs scored will be well earned. As for Riverheads, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Staunton at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The Storm have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 19.06 runs per game on average), something the Gladiators will no doubt try to take advantage of.
