Basketball Recap: Marianna Has No Trouble Against Port St. Joe

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rutherford, Marianna was happy to have turned things around on Monday. They put the hurt on the Port St. Joe Tiger Sharks with a sharp 59-34 victory. That 25 point margin sets a new team best for the Bulldogs this season.

Marianna's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dessiah Gee led the charge by going 6 for 14 on her way to 14 points. Ja'Shonna Mathis was another key player, going 5 for 7 on her way to 12 points.

KK McNair and Ellie Newman certainly did their best on Monday to avoid the loss. McNair posted 13 points and five rebounds, while Newman had 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayla Hill, who posted six points.

The win got Marianna back to even at 6-6. As for Port St. Joe, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Marianna didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 43-36 loss against Bay on the 7th. As for Port St. Joe, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next match, a 66-25 defeat against North Bay Haven Academy on the 7th.
