Baseball Recap: The Classical Academy Finds Playoff Glory Versus Prospect Ridge Academy

The Classical Academy had already proven themselves in the regular season and they didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They put the hurt on the Prospect Ridge Academy Miners with a sharp 11-3 win on Saturday. Considering the Titans have won 14 contests by more than five runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.

The Classical Academy got a great performance from Chase Rorabaugh as he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Rorabaugh has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Maddox Awtry was a standout: he went 2-for-3 with two triples, two RBI, and one run. Those two triples gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Zack Hale, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and one double.

The Classical Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .485. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

The victory made it two in a row for The Classical Academy and bumps their season record up to 19-6. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.0 runs over those games. As for Prospect Ridge Academy, they moved to 16-9 with that defeat, which also ended their five-game winning streak.

Coming up, The Classical Academy will head out to challenge Eaton at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. The Reds will roll in looking for their ninth straight victory, something the Titans surely won't give up without a fight. Prospect Ridge Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
