Baseball Recap: Oskaloosa Comes Up Short

Oskaloosa lost against Valley Falls on Monday, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Bears might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 9-8 to the Dragons, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Bears have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Tanner Haynes and Carter Boyd stepped up to the plate in a big way. Haynes went 2-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run, while Boyd got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Those hits were Haynes' first of the season.

Oskaloosa's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Valley Falls, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 15-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oskaloosa will venture away from home to square off against Pleasant Ridge at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Valley Falls, they will head out to challenge Jefferson West at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dragons 2.8, the Tigers 3.3) so any runs scored will be well earned.
